Meet Your Podiatrist

Lisa C. Overton, DPM

Dr. Lisa Overton has been practicing Podiatry in the West Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia for over 15 years.  This is the very community she grew up in and attended elementary and middle schools.  Dr. Overton attended Philadelphia High School for Girls and matriculated to Howard University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.  After 5 years working as a lab technologist in Washington, D.C., she returned home to begin schooling at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine currently Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.  Upon graduation, she completed two residencies.  The first residency was at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital and the second was at Presbyterian Hospital/ University of Pennsylvania Health System.

Because fifty percent of Dr. Overton’s practice consists of diabetic patients, she frequently lends her time to speak at various health fairs and community outreach programs to talk about the importance of diabetic foot care.  In addition, she often is invited to speak at area school’s career day.  This affords her the opportunity to encourage young people to seek higher education and pursue careers in occupations in need of minorities and women.  She is proud to be a board member of the Uniquely You Summit for Girls, Inc., which annually holds a summit for girls age 11 to 18 to facilitate discussion around self- esteem, higher education and sexual responsibility.  Dr. Lisa currently chairs a Wellness Ministry she started at her church, because she recognized that the church should be whole in mind, body, as well as, spirit.
